Welcome to London Hill Gardens.

Dennis and Barbara Burkhart moved to London Hill in 1998, but consider themselves "almost local", having lived in the Flaxbourne District for thirty years.

Dennis is a commercial lobster fisher and Barbara is the operations manager of their family's export lobster factory in Ward. Both juggle busy, professional lives to leave time for gardening, a shared personal passion. Beds of roses, lavender and catmint have been developed amidst old, established trees at London Hill Gardens.

Overlooking Lake Elterwater, London Hill Gardens enjoys magnificent views of Ben More and Mount Tapuae-o-Uenuku from both the garden and from a lookout above the homestead. Exposed each year to the full range of climates, the garden reveals how havens can exist in the harshest environments.
