There are numerous activities around Ward:
Sawcut Gorge
An adventurous river walk (wet feet are a certainty) through striking
Limestone Bluff country to the dramatic Sawcut Gorge. The route passes through an area
where endemic Marlborough plants grow.
To get there, drive south of Ward on SH1 for about 9km. Just before the
Waima River bridge (Ure River), turn right on to the Waima Valley Road. The road end is
reached after 12km (crossing to the south side of the valley after 3km), so continue on a
private farm road, identified by a large DOC sign indicating the Sawcut Gorge Route. You
must notify the landowner of your intentions. (Not suitable for low slung vehicles.)

Ward Beach
Blow the cobwebs away by exploring this interesting beach on the east
coast of Marlborough. It is a must for all rock hounds. Walk north of the beach up to the
Chancet Rocks and see seals, or walk south to the Needles Rocks and watch local fishermen
launch their boats.
Check out the different varieties of seaweeds and shells commonly left
on the beach after southerly winds. Explore the natural sculptures on rock platforms
exposed at low tide.

The Old Ward Garage and Isolation Merino
Opening late January, 2005, The Old Ward Garage will offer freshly
cooked lobster, wine tastings, olive oil tastings and a fishing experience with visual and
audio displays.
Wander next door to Isolation Merino and view 100% exclusive Merino
baby-wear and accessories.

Ward Domain
The Ward Show is held annually in March and is reputedly one of the
best agricultural shows in NZ. Other local events are held on the grounds and year-round
attractions include three tennis courts, a children's play area and toilet facilities for
public use.
